Dubai, always on the lookout for spectacular innovations, is set to break a new world record in the field of urban transport. As part of the ambitious development of the Dubai Metro Blue Line, the emirate will host the highest underground station in the world, amounting to 74 metres in height. An architectural and technological feat that further cements Dubai’s reputation as a pioneer in the urban mobility of the future.
A record-breaking infrastructure at the heart of the Blue Line
Forming part of the extensive Dubai Metro Blue Line project, this iconic station will be located in the Dubai Creek Harbour district. Named Emaar Properties Station, it will serve as a central hub for this new 30-kilometre line, which will comprise 14 stations passing through nine key areas of the emirate.
As well as its impressive height, the station will cover an area of 11,000 m² and will be able to accommodate up to 160,000 passengers a day. In particular, it will serve the 40,000 residents expected to live in Dubai Creek Harbour, whilst also welcoming the many visitors to this rapidly developing neighbourhood.
A project approved by Dubai’s leadership
The official launch of this project was marked by the laying of the foundation stone by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai. During the ceremony, he also approved the architectural design of the flagship station, thereby highlighting the strategic importance of this infrastructure in the city’s future urban landscape.
The design, inspired by the idea of gateway to the future, will combine functionality, technological innovation and modern aesthetics. It reflects Dubai’s ambition to build a smart, sustainable and fully integrated mobility to its urban development.
A key milestone in the development of urban mobility
This project is in line with the vision of the Dubai Master Plan 2040, which aims to provide seamless, clean and connected transport for the entire population. The launch of the Blue Line and its next-generation stations marks a major step towards this goal, addressing the emirate’s rapid population growth whilst reducing road congestion.
Thanks to this new range, Dubai plans to improve connectivity between new residential and business hubs, and reduce reliance on private cars. The Emaar Properties Station thus becomes a symbol of a city on the move, looking to the future.
With the forthcoming opening of the highest underground station in the world, Dubai has once again confirmed its role as a global leader in futuristic infrastructure. Combining performance, innovation and aesthetic appeal, The Emaar Properties station embodies a new era of urban mobility in Dubai, offering both residents and visitors a unique transport experience in a visionary setting.
