Dubai, the world’s cleanest city for the fifth year running

Dubaï est élue pour la cinquième année consécutive ville la plus propre du monde, selon l'Index Global des Villes de Puissance.

Dubai has been named the world’s cleanest city for the fifth year running, according to the Global Power City Index (GPCI) published by the Mori Memorial Foundation in Japan. This accolade highlights the emirate’s ongoing commitment to cleanliness, modernity and an exceptional quality of life.

A rigorous organisational structure dedicated to cleanliness

Dubai Municipality attributes this success to the hard work of 3,200 engineers and supervisors who ensure the city remains clean on a daily basis. With 855 vehicles in operation, more than 2,400 km of main roads, 1,419 km² of development areas and 33.4 km of canals are cleaned every day. This meticulous organisation enables Dubai to maintain high standards of cleanliness despite constant population growth.

An exemplary level of public satisfaction

The Global Power Cities Index revealed a satisfaction rating of 100 % amongst respondents regarding the cleanliness of the city. This exceptional rating reflects not only the efficiency of municipal services, but also residents’ awareness and active involvement in maintaining a clean environment.

Parallel environmental initiatives

Last November, Dubai City Council announced that it had planted more than 2.5 million flowers and plants across the emirate. This initiative aims to beautify the city whilst contributing to biodiversity and air quality. These efforts form part of a wider strategy for sustainable development and the promotion of a healthy lifestyle for residents.

Well-deserved international recognition

By outperforming 47 major cities across the globe, Dubai has confirmed its leading position in terms of urban cleanliness. This international recognition enhances the city’s appeal to tourists, investors and new residents, thereby cementing its status as a model global metropolis.
