A long weekend to celebrate Eid Al Etihad in the Emirates

To mark the National Day on 2 December, the United Arab Emirates officially announced a 4 days’ leave for the public sector. Named Eid Al Etihad, this period of celebration of national unity will begin on Saturday 29 November, allowing residents to enjoy a long, festive weekend until up to and including Tuesday 2 December. Government departments and ministries will resume their activities Wednesday 3 December 2025.

A proper end-of-year break for residents

As the usual weekend (Saturday and Sunday) coincides with the public holidays, residents of the Emirates will enjoy an extended break, ideal for spend time with the family, to travel around the country or take part in the patriotic celebrations.

This long weekend also marks the start of a series of end-of-year events across the country, drawing in tourists, expats and locals alike to enjoy the festive atmosphere.

A packed programme to celebrate national unity

As is the case every year, the Eid Al Etihad celebrations will be marked by spectacular fireworks, some drone shows, some open-air concerts, as well as numerous patriotic events and cultural festivals.

Abu Dhabi Corniche, featuring a spectacular light and music show,
Downtown Dubai, where the Burj Khalifa will be the setting for artistic projections,
And many smaller towns will be organising parades and local celebrations.
